Amazon? WireFly?

Looking to get the maxx hd in the next 3 weeks. Looks like Amazon is backordered (no idea how). Wirefly has it for $199. Anyone have feedback on WireFly or Amazon?

thanks

I've purchased fro wirefly before, no issues.

The MAXX is on a slight backorder, as the first shipment from 10/18 has been depleted and they are expecting some more today, 10/22. My order is waiting for this 10/22 replenishment :-/

Just keep checking Amazon. I checked like everyday and Tuesday it was available, I placed my order and got the Maxx HD yesterday, I couldnt be happier! I read too many bad reviews about wirefly. I'm sure plenty of people have a good experience but I wasnt willing to risk it.

I've used amazon without issue; btw be aware that these companies tend to have extra etf so if you terminate early you will be hit by double whammy.

To update,

I got my phone from Wirefly yesterday, and the best i can sum it up as, is that there were no issues.

One thing I would like to point out is that it seems as though Wirefly was able to handle being a 3rd party retailer AND having the ability to upgrade. As my wifes upgrade was first, the transfer ability was key to me and left me with corp. vzw, or Wirefly.

I bought from Wirefly a week ago and it was going to arrive on Tuesday. I had two issues though and both were caused by Wirefly reps:

1. On Monday, my previous phone quit working for some reason (no data or voice). Called Verizon on my work phone and apparently Wirefly went in and deactivated my current phone and changed it over to my old phone from over a year ago (which I had in the closet). Verizon got me going again.

2. Got the HD Maxx on Tuesday and activated it just fine with my existing SIM card. However, Wednesday morning, no voice or data again. Called Verizon again and they said Wirefly deactivated my SIM card and tied the SIM card they sent to my phone. Verizon was unable to sync back to my old SIM card, so I had to go to the store and wait for an hour to get a new SIM.

Overall, I love the phone. But I would never go through Wirefly again, especially if Amazon has it for the same price.

I ordered two phones at the same time through wirefly. Had no issues at all, just make sure you follow their activation procedures. The only thing is they will try to upsale you on every little thing (eg accessories package, insurance). But other than that, I got my phone within 2 days and activated it quickly.

I didn't know Amazon sold phones until I saw this thread. The Razr Maxx HD is listed for $199 (still of of stock), but it says price varies depending on service type. I don't won't to input all my information to find out what my price would be, so can anyone tell me if the upgrade price is normally $199? Are there any downsides to buying from Amazon? I'm guessing if purchased from Amazon, I'd have to deal with them if I have any problems with the phone. Has anyone experienced Amazon customer service dealing with a problem phone? Any information or advice is appreciated.

Edit: I did find on the Amazon Wireless site that you get a bigger discount for signing up for new service than you do for upgrading. Does anyone know the phone price for doing an upgrade of an existing account through Amazon?

It is showing for me on a family plan an upgrade price of 199.00 which is the same as a new contract

I recommend avoiding wirefly unless you're 1 single line... per their terms of purchase:

anyone getting luck on Amazon? I got all the way to ordering but estimated delivery is December 12.... gonna keep checking before pulling the trigger cause I ain't waiting that long!

I ordered my Maxx HD last Tuesday and was given a delivery date of December, too. My phone arrived on Friday, three days later. It's activated and running great. I've ordered from Amazon a few times, and had to return a phone once. Each time has been trouble-free. I highly recommend ordering from Amazon...

Thanks everyone for the feedback on Amazon. Checked every day and status went available today. Ordered and delivery is Nov 2. Can't wait! Was debating between the nexus 4 but no LTE no thank you!

As I noted above this is pretty much the norm for any of the mail order houses (amazon is very similar). They give you a larger discount than verizon but there is a second etf which is typically 6 months. My preference for amazon is I've been happy with their service and return policy (note that for phones they have a more restrictive policy which basically sez you know what you are buying so don't return unless the phone is defective; they tend to be a bit more flexible than the fine print but the fine print is quite rigid. Given that nearly all the mail order houses (for phones on contract) are similar I suspect it is being pushed by the carriers.
