Is anyone experiencing the advertise app icon on main screen??

I recently switch from Optimus V to Motorola triumph. I'musing MTDev 10/19. Every day, there are advertisement app icon show up on screen like "free games" Online gamable" or someone like to meet you etc..

I also run g60 style rom and still have some problem. Just wonder if it from t-mobile or from roms?? maybe from the app that download from market??

Its seem like my phone has been spy with spy app installed. I been using my Optimus V for last 1yr and half and never have that problem.

free to post of what your experience or how can find out

You recently installed an app that has these kind of ads. The most common I can think of are Gpsfix and Bloat Freezer. To get rid of them, download the app called Airblocker or uninstall the app that it came with.

Most apps that i backup from optimums v w/ Titanium. I didn't add anything except the Holo Launcher for free from Market. Now, i uninstalled for last 5hrs and just get a boat app again. best thing i have to re-install the rom to find out.

You have an app that is pushing adware at you, guaranteed. It doesn't matter what ROM you use if you keep that app. Download AirPush Detector from the Android Market and it will scan your apps and tell you which one is spamming you.

Did you happen to install the Jelly Bean theme for CM7? It caused the same problem for me, uninstalled.

Really hate that type of ad- there should be a requirement in the Market for devs to notify potential purchasers in an obvious way that their app contains this type of ad.

Try Adaway. Make sure you run it once you install it from the play store. Download and install the hosts files. This should kill any and all crapware ads on the phone. But still be sure to uninstall those infested apps. Of course, I try my best to support the devs with donations and buying pro versions of apps. I understand that people need to make a living. Problem is, some apps have no way to get rid of the ads without blocking them. Sorry, I honestly would not use hosts files and Adblock Plus if ads in apps and on the net were less annoying. I hope that one day Adblock Plus, with it's default configuration, forces obtrusive, CPU-intensive ads out of the web. I don't really mind static images or plain text ads. But some plain image ads are obnoxious, and scam users when they click on them. I don't want to stop the cash flow here at AF, so to more or less make up in a way for my constant ad blocking, I donated to the devs around here a while back, and also try to help anyone I can, even the moderators when they need help. Hope I can contribute to this place even though I block ads. Note that AF's ads don't tick me off, but many ads I see on the net do. Also Airpush and junk that comes bundled into Android apps. I hope one day, when advertising becomes more responsible, I will be able to remove many of my ad blocking tools. PS if there's anything I can do to help you mods, let me know.

I have found that if the app has adware, the past users are more than happy to say that in their review. That can be helpful. :D

I'm here to apologize for my miss comment on your Dev rom. So far, Air push detect File Mananger Pro that i download from Market has this adware. I don't meant to comment on your Dev. I'm sorry about there. I'm running your MTDev and so far it running smooth. Keep up your hard work. Sorry again.

Guys? What are you sorry for? None of you did anything wrong! I was just voicing my opinion on how I feel advertising should be done! No hard feelings over anything! None of you set me off, I just go on rants like this once in a while LOL. Also, I'm not a programmer (yet) or one of the coders for MTDEV. But I provide documentation and assistance. The MTDEV guys do not make money off of ads, as far as I know. There are no advertisements on said website. Plus, misunderstandings are common on the internet. I was typing from my phone and had to edit my post three times or so, since I was misspelling like crazy. Can anyone clarify on why they should feel sorry for me? I didn't see anyone do anything wrong. It must have been some misunderstanding due to my misspelling and the fact that nobody can truly show their tone of voice on the internet. Anyhow, nobody set me off. I normally go on rants about stuff like that once in a while. This is a forum, after all. If it's anybody's fault for seeming like something's wrong, it's mine. In short, I rant sometimes for the heck of it, nobody set me off. No need to feel sorry!

I think TekOne apologized because he assumed in the OP that the MTDEV ROM gave him the adware. It's a simple mistake many newcomers make. No harm, no foul. :D

GPS fix was running airpush ads until the last update on 8/27/2012. Many users uninstalled the app 6-9 months ago when they started using airpush. Looks like they finally figured out it wasn't in their best interest to use such an intrusive ad network.

I don't think they should be allowed to send ads, like the little Google ads banner that some apps have is ok in my opinion, usually comes with a free version of a paid app, but the text message ads should be straight illegal, if u don't have an unlimited plan u would have to pay for each ad on top of the fact that it'll probly also count towards data lol

But I actually haven't seen to many of them recently so. I'm hoping Google is weeding them out
