The F3 and the F6 have a storage problem.
You know that, I'm sure.
It's not alone. Several devices are similarly afflicted.
I'm a software engineer of 30+ year's experience. My son got an F6 for Christmas, and as you probably know it's very similar to the F3 - we share your pain
Since my son and my wife won't let me de-solder the internal SD chip and replace it with a larger one (
), I'm doing the next best thing.
I have this working on my F6. A complete remounting of the /data directory.
Real...genuine free space. No app by app fiddling with "move to phone" or other such machinations. No links. No partial mounting of subdirectories that solve part of the problem. I have room to install 10+ Gbytes of software. The key is the ability to reconfigure storage - ALL of it - before Android takes control of the phone, before Smanager and Universal init.d can fire scripts.
It is experimental. I'm inviting you to look over the shoulder of an engineer in ownership of one of these phones, applying a solution not found anywhere else. I built the 4.1.2 version of Android from AOSP just to try it. If you're technically familiar, able to restore your phone from a kdz or the factory ROM, can at least Google for a short download to install ADB, have some familiarity with the Linux shell on the phone, have rooted your device and want to try this....at your own risk...I invite you to join in. You could help create THE solution while we wait for a reliable means of unlocking the boot loader.
If you're curious, please have a look.
I've opened a thread on the F6 forum for this, and since double posting isn't polite, I'm inviting everyone here to read what's happening on this problem.
For this thread it's probably best to jump toward the end here: http://androidforums.com/lg-optimus...ernal-sd-storage-solution-f6.html#post6406733
