An odd gmail problem on my Galaxy 2

Hello;
I have the new Telus version of the Samsung Galaxy 2 SX, running stock Gingerbread 2.3.5. I am having a problem with the email app. I added my various accounts, and one gmail account seems to only want to display my old messages. As in, the emails it displays are from when I first opened that account in 2007. I can click the grey "load more messages" bar and get the next newest 25, but I am sure there's a better solution for getting to the top than clicking "load more" for 4 years worth of emails.
My other pop3 account works just fine and displays the current emails first. I've tried all the various sorting and viewing options in the stock email app, as well as deleting and re-adding. Has anyone heard of this, or have an idea what I can do?
Thanks,
CX
