The analysts at IDC have reduced their forecast for smartphone growth this year. Estimates initially called for 3.4% growth, but analysts believe just 1.6% of growth will be seen this year.
This is the second reduction of predicted smartphone growth in just three months. IDC's Jitesh Ubrani says these estimates were reduced because growth in the sector relies on people replacing existing handsets, not new people adopting smartphones for the first time.
