this is awesome! now soon (a few years?) be able to buy unlocked gsm phones and use them on metros network! :) or would it be t mobile by that time? or tmetro? lol i personally like t-metro :)

Just think exactly 1 year and 2 months ago we were an hour away from being bought by Sprint

That would have been an absolute nightmare and it would have pushed me to TMobile for $70/mo. Now hopefully I can have TMobile speeds at Metro's $55/mo price.

i would have switched to tmo a long time ago but there is currently only 1x in my area thru tmo... 4g thru metro tho :) hopefully tmo can start using the 4g towers soon :)

TMobiles fast here in NYC metro area but Sprint is horrible. Sprint is hands down the slowest carrier here. No LTE yet just the doomed Wimax and their too slow to stream Youtube 3g.

Good. Then by July we should be seeing some improvements

I'd like to know how and what you know about the July thing.

I've asked here before if anyone had ideas of what prospective near term changes for Metro customers might be and haven't heard anything on that.

i doubt it... they just approved the merger (if i read everything right) they still need to convert and combine everything... i would say by about mid 2014 (just a rough estimate) we will be able to use gsm phones on metro

so does this mean well be able to use gsm phones on metro or are they gonna release the tmo phones in a cdma variant?

I would say yes. What I had meant earlier was that we will be seeing T-Mobile GSM phones on Metro as they are both basically the same company. This will make the transition from cdma much less of a problem (or so to speak).
