Help Andriod OS question

So my wife and I purchased At&t Backflips a few months back, and while she loves hers, mainly because the phone she was using prior to it was outdated 6 years ago, I did not share her joy. I swapped from an IPhone, and was sold on the hardware of the backflip. It is in every way that I can see superior to the Iphone in that respect, however its software leaves much to be desired. On top of this I hate the fact that the main search bar is yahoo, I can’t stand yahoo, in fact simply turning on my phone angered me, thus I went back to my jail broken Iphone. I have been browsing the net since I bought the phone trying to find a way to install the real android os on the phone but all in all the searching I have done I have not found a definitive answer. This seems to be my last place to turn. Is it possible to install the true android os on a backflip, and be done with this motoblur trash?

The Backflip is running a custom version of the Android OS called Motoblur. The only way to completely remove Motoblur is to root the device which is currently impossible. And even with Motoblur removed, the default search would still be Yahoo. Right now it is impossible to modify the phone because root access has not been made. Once we find root, you can install custom ROMs and no doubt one of them will be the plain Vanilla Android. Right now, you just have to live with what you have now.

Yahoo is the default search. You can remove the widget from your homescreens. There are certain apps that go straight to Google search function but there is no Google search widget.

Can you redirect the search key on the keyboard to Google and not Yahoo?
