Hello,

I have a Pixel 4, Android 10, kernel ver 4.14.111, build number QQ1B.200205.002.

The alarm sound is not working at all. I have tried adjusting alarm volume and other volume sliders with no effect. While in the alarm application, if I try to preview the alarm sound, no sound comes from the speakers. I have tried adjusting the volume while the preview is playing but no change. I have tried deleting the alarms and re-adding them. I have installed other alarm app from play store and these applications do produce sound when the alarm triggers. I appreciate any advice.

Do ringtones work fine? And are you using default alarm sounds or ones you've manually added?

Interestingly, ring tones are not working either. I have the Zedge app installed. Whether I choose default sound clips or Zedge provided sound clips, the alarm and ring tones do not work.

I've seen issues with Zedge ringtones and alarm tones in the past, which seem to manifest almost exactly as you describe. Try resetting both the alarm and ringtone sounds back to one of the default ones from the stock "Sounds" app, reboot, and see if the alarm sounds work again.

I uninstalled the Zedge app and did as you said, setting the alarm and ringtone to default sounds, and restarted the phone. Unfortunately, still no sound.

did this just start? or did it happen all of a sudden? maybe after an update?

my note 10+ works great with any of the zedge sounds with no issue.

maybe try a different app for your sound notifications, just to see if it is the zedge app or not.

I have the same problem. Is there any best solution at the moment? I am having to use my old phone during this time.:oops::oops:

@codesplice I tried booting in safe mode and I still had the same issues.
@ocnbrz AFAIK this happened recently, like within a week or two. I haven't been able to narrow it down to anything specific. My apps/phone autoupdates, so I'm not sure how to narrow that down.

If you play music, can you confirm that both of the phone's speakers are producing sound? There's one speaker on the upper front of the phone and another on the bottom edge. I believe that only one is used for ringtones and alarms while both are typically used for "media" audio.

Playing music I can hear sound coming from the top of the phone where you would put your ear for a call, but no sound from the bottom of the phone.

Took the phone in for service today and they replaced the bottom speaker. Everything is working well now. The tech said that this is the second pixel 4 they've had with a broken bottom speaker and also that the pixel 3a experienced this issue often. Thanks for all the help!
