Help Android 2.3.6 - recovery mode stuck

Hey,

I wan't to reset my old Samsung Mediaplayer to give it to my little sister, but I forgot the pattern. I read you can reset it in recovery mode. Normally it should try to download for a few seconds / minutes, but mine says "Downloading" for 30 mins ...

downloading? if you are resetting it there should be no download. it shold say re-formatting or just formatting with a progress bar. how did you do the factory reset? within the device's settings?
