Android 2.3 email steals my messages from Thunderbird

I just upgraded from an OG Droid to Droid 3, with the Gingerbread email client, which is very nice.

But it's causing me troubles. I'm using IMAP on Android and with Thunderbird on my desktop.

The problem is that when a new message arrives in my inbox, the Android phone seems to be stealing it and deleting it from the server. Thunderbird never sees any messages arrive, but they're all there on the phone.

I tried disabling "Data Push" (IMAP IDLE) on the Android, and I'm still running experiments. I'm not sure what's going on yet.

Open the email app and long-press on the account to get to account settings. From there go to incoming settings and make sure 'delete from server' is set to never.
