Does anyone know of any bugs with USB Tethering? I think when I use USB Tethering, my Android is using my Mobile Network even though I have this disabled. Is this expected behaviour? If I disable Mobile Network I would expect it not to be used at all even if in USB Tethering mode?!?!?
Let me explain...
Recently I was getting some phone bill shock which I traced back to huge unknown Data network use. I was seeing days where there were 500MB/700MB+ off data usage. This was really confusing because my phone usage is quite consistent and most days I see 2-3MB of use. I installed Watchdog 3G Pro to try see what the problem was. Last Sunday it tracked 700MB in a single day, but when I looked at Usage by app it could only breakdown 50MB to specific apps. I synchronise my accounts fairly consistently and as I said most days are 2-3MB.
Recently my laptop's wireless stopped working so I was using USB Tethering to connect to the Internet. When I did this I would enable wifi and disable the Mobile Network. However, I noticed the other day that at one end of the house where the wifi signal is weak if the wifi signal dropped out, rather than lose a connection it would switch to the Mobile Network even though I had disabled this under the settings shortcuts section.
I have a HTC Desire HD, running Android 2.3.3 with HTC Sense version 2.1, Kernel version 2.6.35.
Anyone encountered this or know if this is a bug/expected behaviour?
Anyone think this is a bug or expected behaviour?
