i was trying to get an app but it only supports android 4.0. Will my phone ever get android 4.0?

Phenom's currently working on cm9 for this phone which is essentially android 4.0 ics. So yes in a way if you're talking about an ota update then no probably not ,but thats why we have such great devs who work so hard on this device!

I have that cm9 for this phone. It's great.

Where do you get cm9? Is there a newb friendly tutorial for installing/setting it up?

Does it allow you to install apps from the play store that have a minimum requirement of 4.0?

Are things that you can do on the phone now that will no longer work (talking non-virgin bloatware related.)?

Thanks

The app is vine

With GB being API 10 and ICS being API 14...that'd be tough...best bet would be to contact the developer and see if he/she has an interest in a backport. Some devs like the Plume twitter client guys have a multi API app. Doesn't hurt to ask.

you can just use Build.prop editor app (if you're rooted...and why wouldn't you be?) and change your Android version to say 4.1.2

Actually not that simple. I just changed mine to 4.0.4(currently on Harmonia), rebooted then went to google chorme in the PlayStore.
Still not compatible.(it is compatible on CM9)

As I've previously mentioned most newer apps aren't backward compatible. Too many changes between API 10 (GB) and API 14 (ICS). An app would have to be reverse engineered and back ported.
