Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean)?

Probably not officially but there may be a port in the future. The 3D should have the ICS update pushed by the end of July.

It probably will, but not for a while. The only devices capable of Jellybean right now are GSM devices; I dont know if that will be a problem since Evo is CDMA.

If there isnt a build meant for our device, or a leak, we will probably get an unofficial Jelly Bean and lose 3d functionality as well as some other features of the phone.

Unlikely, considering that Sprint HTC Evo 3D users don't even have ICS yet.
Doubt it. MT is never getting updated from froyo, and Sprint evo 3d are stuck with GB, which is why I'm STRONGLY considering ditching VMUSA when the newer Google Nexus(hopefully fall) appears and going with a $50 T-Mobile plan unlocked + lengthy and quick OS updates direct from Google + GSM(more flexible).

I'm still not sold on it as being "better" than CDMA as GSM always seem to have flakey cell connection and frequent drops where IME they're incredibly rare on CDMA nets. Unfortunately the only CDMA choices really are Sprint(+ MVNOs e.g. VMUSA) or Verizon(overpriced plus their overpriced feature poor MVNOs, although IF I could completely business expense it I'd do Verizon as their coverage is incredible and pretty well always has been while everyone else just hangs out in major cities and along the interstates for the most part).

Evo 3D for Sprint is getting their ICS update and VM shipped out the Evo V with ICS preinstalled...

Has VM ever updated any Android phone? Actual release updates, not point releases or patches like the OV.

I know they updated the Intercept to Froyo (I believe it shipped with 2.1). Off the top of my head, that is the only Android version upgrade I can remember.

Cool, good to know. Hopefully that will become the norm vs the OVs and Triumphs that never got upgraded.

WOW! I never even NOTICED that my evo had ICS....!!!!111!!!1!!!1ONE

Still the only reason their sprint version is probably going to get ICS is because they had it produced for their VM version -> trivial port. Had the VM version NOT appeared you can bet that the 3d would reside permanently w/GB. I'm done with crap carrier ODM phones and going with the real one nexus. It likely won't have the bestest evar specs but it'll be getting updates for years.

It's be if the Googlerola phones got the same treatment now...
