Help Android 4.4.3 GPS

Hi all. I have a problem with running GPS recording apps with my Android 4.4.3 (no idea what the name is, Android dog poop? Android spaghetti and meatballs? Who knows, LOL.)

Anyways, I use GPS apps like Map my Ride, Google My Tracks, Ride with GPS for GPS recording when I'm out on the bike or in the kayak. My problem is I turn the GPS on, start the app and it records for only a period of time and then my app is closed and no longer recording. This could be 10 minutes or it could be half an hour. I'll check my phone and see the app is closed and GPS is still turned on and showing in the status bar. I'll reopen the app, it is showing still running, but it doesn't have the route recorded. It will record a straight line from where it turned off to where I currently am. I've been mapping my bike riding and kayaking for years and since getting this phone (just an AT&T Tribute on GoPhone) this has been happening.

It does it no matter what GPS app I'm using as I have several so I assume it is a GPS/Android problem and not a problem with a specific app.

I'll upload an example of how the routes record....

Your phone is going into sleep mode so you can either go into settings to keep the screen awake or use an app on GooglePlay called Stay Awake (surprisingly!)
