Android 5.0.1 battery drain

Hello everybody. A few minutes back, I got a notification that android 5.0.1 was ready to download, so of course I hit install. The installation process went down without a hitch, however my battery life is now seriously messed up. Before the installation (which took roughly 5 minutes) my battery was at approximately 65%. Furthermore, when I finished the update the battery was at 15%. The best part though, is that my phone apparently charged itself, as the battery is now at 18%, but with battery dancer still on. I've checked the battery page, but again the numbers only add up to approx 65%. I've uploaded a screenshot from the battery page for reference. Is it just me?

Don't mind the signal problems, its like that everyday because of my location, yet it drains normally

I would fully charge the phone. That will clear out the battery stats and you'll get a real idea of what's going on with the next discharge
I've done this routinely and it's served me well. I don't bother to watch battery consumption till I've gone through two full cycles from 100% to 10%~15%.

Currently I'm enjoying very good run times. Nothing exceptionally high, just better than I had prior to the upgrade which is quite satisfactory.

The current play services update is killing my battery in a few hours

It racked up almost 50% battery use, with Android os not far behind

I had the exact same problem. I cleared all apps' cache and data, deactivated my task killer, charged the phone and restarted it after it was full. To be honest I don't know if all the things were necessary but it works and now I'm even enjoying better battery life than when on KitKat.

Why have you got a task killer? You don't need one with kitkat or lollipop
