Help android 5.1 tethering problems

hi I have got ulephone betouch 3 up until a few days back I could tether my smartphone to my laptop to get the internet on my laptop.
now for some reason the tethering option on my smartphone is grayed out.
everything else is working ok on the phone browser and when I plug the phone into the laptop is charges ok.
any ideas. thanks

Do you have tethering included in your contract and data plan? Some carriers will lock and disable tethering, unless you pay an extra fee for it. Who is your carrier, Verizon or something?

its t mobile uk and yes tethering is in my data plan. I tried going into the storage and making sure mpt was ticked and tried different leads. still no good.
