Android TV Boxes?? What does that mean?

I just got a Leelbox- q1 master today. It's says its an android. It can sign into google play but GP errors out, does that mean its incompatible?

Is there an android app that plays the local news and TV stations in my town?
It looks like everything is from the UK on the apps installed, how do I go about getting an app for local free digital stations from Orlando Florida?


Any particular app?

If it's only local stations you might be off with just a regular ATSC receiver box, plug into the antenna and TV, and that's it.

It sounds like the Android box you got was intended for the UK. Where did you buy it, online and imported from Hong Kong? If GP is constantly erroring and crashing, the device could be faulty.
 
Thanks for the reply. I bought it from a friend new.

It's android 6.0 apparent its rooted so I downloaded Adaway

Google play is working now, not that I tried to download anything. Does it work just like the Android OS if I had that version on my phone? Can I play games?

My wife would not be interested in the radio.

Our TV is not getting as many digital channels from our antenna as the ones in the other rooms.

She really just wants to watch the local stuff from 2, 6, 9, 18, 27, 35 and such.
