I am new to android development and I am currently trying to create my first application for android. Unfortunately I ran into a problem and I have no Idea how to get around it, I feel like its a limitation with the OS but I am sure their is a work around. What I am trying to do is create an item in the action bar that will display as an icon with the text next to it. For example displaying a picture of an envelope in action bar with the text "email" to the right of it. I have seen this done many times and started researching how to do it. I figured out a way to make it work and it displays it perfectly on older android versions such as Honeycomb 3.0 however when i try to run the same application on my 4.1.2 Jellybean phone it will only display the image and not the text with it. Sorry if you don't understand what I am talking about it is quite hard to explain. I have double checked that this wasn't a problem with the resolution by setting the exact same resolution when emulating the systems.
Please let me know if their is a work around to this problem.
