Long story short, I got tired of copying/pasting or refactoring simple example code that I had in order to have a starting template for my Activities (as well as it's attached Fragments) and Services.
So I decided to create a simple java jar that creates pre-formatted code snippets to help making applications simpler. It is pretty straight forward:
1. run the app
2. answer the questions until you are done
3. go to the directory you specify to drop your files into
4. find the files you need
5. copy and paste them into your work space
For those of you that haven't worked much with executable jars, all you need to do is open your cmd prompt, go to the directory that contains the application, and type in:
java -jar android_template_generator.jar
It is important to note that there is very little right now as far as error checking or file preservation. You can overwrite files so be careful of that. The best way to avoid it is to create a folder, drop the android_template_generator.jar in it, and run your jar from there.
Once the code gets cleaned up I will be offering the source via git, so keep an eye out if the project interests you.
