Android and Gmail sync with phone contacts

RballCoach

Newbie
A friend was telling me that if you have an Android then my contacts have been backed up with my gmail account.

I have had to insure my phone twice in the last week and right now I don't have my contacts.

When setting up my phone I have clicked on sync all.

Is there a way that it's already set for phone contacts to be saved to my gmail account or was there something else I was suppose to do.

I looked thru other threads but don't find the answer.

Please and thank you,

Manny

You must save contacts as 'Google contacts' for them to auto-sync to your Gmail account. Your phone's manual will explain in more detail.

Depends on your phone model because method may vary between manufacturers due to skinning.

Now if you don't have contacts yet and own a Samsung, method for phones is usually to go into contacts app>menu>more>settings>save contacts to>choose your Google account. All contacts saved from that point onwards will go to Google.
