Don't know if this is the right place, it's my first post

So I hate my AT&T service and want to switch to verizon. I also love my buddies n1, but I need a phone that can make a 3g hotspot. I have jail broken iphone as well as a jail broken Ipad that does the job right now. It really makes the devices worth owning I use my ipad for everything now. Anyway love the droid incredible just need to know the best phone to hotspot tether. I know I can do it with the htc imagio or what ever but who wants a windows 6.5 phone, when their are android phones available.

thanks

If you wanted to give Sprint a try, the Evo will be able to serve as a hotspot for up to eight devices, and if you live in the right area, it supports 4g. I'm willing to bet that Sprint would be cheaper than Verizon also, even with 4g.

Ha, I as going to suggest HTC EVO.

I was just looking for a decent fact sheet.

Anyway,

+1 on the HTC EVO

I have the HTC Eris, and after rooting it, I was able to do a Wifi tethering that works great. My wife is always using her iTouch online when we're on the road thanks to my eris :)
I imagine you should be able to do the same thing on the Incredible.

Personaly, i would take Verizon 100X over Sprint... but then again that might related to the area I live in.
Sprint might be better in other cities.

thanks for all quick replies. i am very open to rooting not sure how sprint and tmobile coverage is in this part of texas. i know verizon works great, but am open to anything. basically i just want a phone i can take home and have a 3g hotspot for the ipad. i don't care if it requires rooting or not. i dont know if you can buy apps that will let u hotspot on the app store or not. and i didnt think the incredible was rootable yet. right now i just turn on a app on my jb iphone and have internet would like to do the same with good coverage and android goodness. i dont want to pay the extra 30 a month for sprints tethering i just want to be able to use it of the base data plan on the phone occasionally
thanks

The original Droid can wifi tether for free if rooted and you can get one for $20. The incredible can't tether until someone figures out how to root it.

You keep saying 3g tether... but the correct term is Wifi tether.
You are creating a wifi hotspot that any device can connect to. Not sure 3g devices.
Rooting is the only way.

I'm sure it won't be long until the Incredible gets rooted.
But right now I believe your best choice with Verizon would probably the the Moto Droid.
