Apps Android app authentication

We are developing an android app for a small scale business stores. once we sell to a customer, how do we secure our app from not being distributed freely by the customer.

Is there any authentication process when running first time in the tablet, that way we can authenticate to the server?

There is a option in android, user can backup and restore to any other device with out issue. how to secure in this scenario from not being distributed freely by the customer?

We would like to protect our app, is there any way to secure?

are there other options other than google play licensing.....only search results i can fins is..

Quick License Manager by SORACO...which i am uncomfotable with tech support to help implement ...and...

License Manager by Tanla...which does not even have a north american contact number.

so...

if anyone has any experiance with either i would like to hear about it..
and if there are other options....
