I have a general question about Android apps. If an app is incompatible with a phone model, using Android Lollipop 5.1.1 as an example and the developer asks for the model number of the phone, what has to be done in order for the app to be compatible with the phone? Do they provide the phone's model information to the Google Play store, or is it something else?
One particular banking app presently comes up as not being compatible with the phone (running 5.1.1) and does not let me download/install it. Yet this same app will run on phones with Android 5.0.1, not run on KitKat 4.4.2, but will run on Jelly Bean.
