Android App for mapping Cell Towers/Cells without Wifi/Internet Connection

Hey everyone,

First time posting here, so please be gentle.

So I'm looking for an app that allows me to map the location of cell towers and cells that doesn't require a Wifi or Internet connection, and export these cell locations to a .csv/.kml file.

All of the apps I've tested have required a data connection to get the latitude and longitude coordinates, but I'm looking at performing the analysis in an area of limited connectivity.

I'll be using a set of Samsung Galaxy S5 phones.

Thank you, and any help offered has my gratitude!

You can't find them with your phone if you can't see them. There may be a list somewhere though.

Right. There are a few lists out there (OpenCellID i think is one), but I'm actually curious if they can be located using just the cellular spectrum without data. Like, i can measure cellular signal strength in various locations without an Wifi or Internet connection, but I can't find an app that gets the location of the cells/cell towers that my phone is sensing.

That last part is the app I'm hunting for... seems like everyone requires a query of the cellID database.

You might glean something worth looking into from:

There are also links there for basic stats that they compile. Although I don't think it's quite what you're looking for (a database of cell towers). Also note that this is crowd-sourced data, so while it's good for urban areas where there's a high density of people, it's not so accurate when it involves remote, low density locations.
