Android Beam not working?

My buddy at work has a Galaxy Nexus and today I tried to beam him a web page but it wouldnt work.

When I tapped both phones together, the "touch to beam" prompt would come up, but once I touched it, nothing happed. It would just close the request.

We both have beam turned on, both have the extended battery, both have cases.

Just odd that it recognized that we were trying to beam, but wouldn't send it.

Anyone else having problems with android beam?

I have had problems too. Its worked only once. I get the sound/vibration but no tap screen prompt. They make it look so easy on the video. Interested to see other people's experience.

I've been having the same problem too. I've tried wiping my Nexus in order to rule out the possibility that some app was messing with beam and NFC, however, the problem still exists.

Is it possible that the software was underdeveloped and they used it as a gimmick to sell more phones?

My friend and I were able to beam a website but no images from the gallery...I thought pictures were supposed to work too.

Anything is possible. Really how many people could use beam? Oh yeah, just Nexus users...so maybe they figured they wouldn't have wide-spread adoption across phones yet and had sometime to fix it.

Then again, maybe we spend too much time with our conspiracy theories. :D

Yes, thats a possible explanation. But, why are users like badandy not running into any trouble?? I would say its faulty hardware but Google Wallet works flawlessly for me. I'm getting a little frustrated....

I have played around with beam a little more and its working pretty well. The problems I was having was trying to beam a photo from gallery but I dont think thats supported.

i thought beaming pictures was supposed to be part of the functionality? i was able to beam webpages back and forth with my friend, but photos didn't work.

if i can't do photos, i might as well just use bump...at least i can use that with other people who don't have the nexus.
