Android browser cache

Hi all,

I would like to disable the browser cache on the default android browser. The reason for this is that I have a Samsung Galaxy Ace, which has a low amount of internal memory which I don't want wasted with browser cache.

Yax

You really should look into what's using the majority of your internal storage and address those items first. Cache is the least effective approach. AFAIK you can't disable the cache. Clearing cache is only a very temporary fix as using an app will just rebuild the cache.

Remove apps, move to SD and clean up your data. Most people overlook data for some reason. It also resides in internal memory by default.

I use an app called "Quick App Manager". It allows you set up an automatic delete cache size. You can choose the apps to delete the caches. I had the same problem on my Backflip. I had to go into each app and delete the caches individually. (This was a pain and time consuming) If you go into the setting with in the browser, you can clear it that way.

Hi,

Thanks, but I have already done this. The galaxy ace has only 191MB and I have moved everything that will be moved. Data already lives on the SD card. I did not mean the application cache, but the browsing cache, just like Firefox or IE has. This browsing cache quickly builds up to take a few megabytes after a few minutes of browsing, and I always clear it after browing by entering Menu -> More -> Settings -> Clear cache

Hi,

Thanks for this suggestion. I will look into it. It is ironic how I need an aplication (which uses space) to prevent other applications from using more space...
