Android contacts

Still a steep, learning curve on the Orange San Fransisco (Android 2.2 Swedish Spring).

I am using gmail to sync contacts. Can anyone explain why I seem to have an email/address/contact for anyone I've ever emailed? Also just deleted around 100 contacts called 'normal' - where did they come from?

depending on your phone somewhere in your contacts app's setting there should be something that says show only contacts with phone number, there also may be an option that say show auto gmail contacts you would want that unchecked.

Because in your Gmail general settings you have got "Create contacts for auto-complete" switched on.

Can you explain where this is? Have searched gmail> settings but can in fact find no 'settings' at all

It's on the General Tab.

Create contacts for auto-complete:

• When I send a message to a new person, add them to Other Contacts so that I can auto-complete to them next time
• I'll add contacts myself

That's odd. I'm on the General tab as soon as I go to Settings.
