Android Data Plan vs. T-Zone?

Hi, while I was reading this forum, I read someone buying $5.99 T-Zone and getting 3G network instead of getting $24.99 Android Data plan.
Is this true? I can just get T-Zone and everything will be fine?

I thought T-zones was no longer offered and you had to be grandfathered in to have it on your line. Also i cant say if it works on the nexus or not, as i just skipped all the trouble and added the right data plan...

Oh, so I can't get T-Zone even if wanted to now?

I think the post you're referring to (get 3G like speed with t-zone) is not getting 3G speed. He's referring to a relatively fast speed (400 - 500kbps) on the phone, but not 7.2 that you would see with an actual 3G connection. Double check.

Not sure about T-Zones, but you could try getting even more plus talk +text for 39.99 + web2go internet for $10 = 49.99/month.

I don't know if web2go will work, but it apparently works with 3g if the reception is there...

7.2 is max theoretical speed, I've got 3G on my G1 and I'm getting about 1mbps, 400-500kbps is 3G, Edge tops out around 180kbps

Yeah I have had the $4.99 unlimited T-Zones plan for like 6-8 years, so its grandfathered in and I have unlimited data access through the proxy, can't beat it. Working fine on my Behold II

I had web2go for $10 but nexus one didn't work. I had to upgrade to android plan.

Web2Go only works with T-Mobile "branded" phones. Nexus one, unlocked non-T-Mobile devices and Rooted devices will have incorrect UA Strings and firmware data that would keep it from registering properly in the device repository that validates if you can access Web2Go or not.

So even if you wanted to have the cheaper plan, you can't unless you get an official T-Mobile device.
