Help Android Device Manager Question

Hi Everyone,
If you are trying to unlock your phone with android device manager (screen completely dead) but after logging into your google account the options are to ring or lock & erase. The lock & erase button are a single button. If you are trying to retrieve data from the phone, can you just click the lock & erase button? Thanks in advance for any help.

Device manager is for a lost or stolen device. The lock and erase feature will do exactly what it states. If your phone has a dead screen, try attaching it to a computer with a USB cable.
