Android device manager wont locate my phone

I have a Moto G running latest Android. I want to use Google Device Manager to locate and control my hpone. But although the device is listed in the Google account when I ask it tp locate the phone it only shows my other Android Tablet - whioch is registereed to the same gmail account. The phone is on and location services turned on. How do I get ADM to show up my phone?

I don't know if it makes a difference, but there are three settings as attached (access location....location reporting...location history) maybe all need to be on? uploadfromtaptalk1408894559308.jpg

Thanks Electricpete. Tried that and still only shows the Tablet in the location search. I must say the whole process is very confusing - I know people with iphone who seem to have an easier route to getting this set up.

Have you run android device manager on the phone? Get the app and run it. Then check in phone settings device administrators, and make sure its checked.

Tap on the name of tablet (in the app on phone) and switch it. When you tap the name, a list of devices should show up. Assuming they are both logged in the same google account
