Android do work like Windows

Why can't android task management be like windows?

Lots of task (mainly unnecessary) running in background and eating up RAM.

Is there any way to make it like windows task management e.g. a cross [X] button/close button closes application and key like Alt+Tab switches between application.

If this is implemented then android will be more fluidic and fast.

I searched many times on internet and play store for such app but no app serves the purpose.

Many system monitoring apps let you close tasks. In fact the task switcher on my HTC does - I can just flick away an app I want to close. But unless you have a rogue app, or the manufacturer misconfigured the OS badly, there should be no need.

The truth is that having lots of free RAM won't make the system run better. What it will do is make apps open more slowly and use more power. The way android works is that when you leave an app, the app remains (generally inactive) in memory. If you return to the app, it's already loaded, so starts faster and using less power. If the system needs the memory for another app, the the app will be closed to make space. So you don't actually gain by closing it the moment you leave it (unless maybe you are sure you won't be running that again for a long time).

If you're on a device that shipped with ICS or above, there should be a recent apps button on your device. It's normally the right icon/button at the bottom of the screen and looks like one rectangle in front of another one.

On Pre-ICS devices, I think you can hold the Home button for a similar effect.

Alternatively, look at something like Edge Quick Actions: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.reactivstudios.android.edge.free

There are a few odd exceptions too. For example, my HTC One has only 2 buttons, and a double tap on the home button does the job of the "recent apps" button. But that is pretty unique to recent HTCs.

Android is Linux. ;)

I think it may help you to understand exactly how Android works. While this isn't a thread about task killers, the link I'll provide will go into a bit more detail about how Android works and will explain about running apps versus cached apps.

Actually, Windows is already running like that (apps stored on RAM) if you activate Superfetch, because its faster that way.
