Apps Android emulator changes computer sound

hi all, I'm having a small, yet very annoying problem with my android emulator. whenever I start the emulator any sound playing from my computer from other programs e.g iTunes changes and sounds kinda different, like the volume drops a little and higher sound frequencies get filtered out a little

any suggestions to fix this? I can't dev without my music!!! i'm using win7x64 on a laptop
