Android Eris Help

Hi;
I just purchased an android Eris (ebay) and had it shipped from the US to me here in Canada.

I was hoping to download a canadian viop app called Fongo, and use the phone without a cell plan.

This where the problem starts; The phone still thinks it's back home in the good old USA and tells me the app is not available in my country.

Two days, lots of swearrin and cussin later, i'm at my witts end.

any ideas?????

BtW, the phone is on the Verizon network, but as mentioned above, not connected.

Are you trying to get the Dell Voice app on the phone?

Sound like you will have to side load the apk. Side loading is manually coping the apk file to the phone then installing by opening the apk with a file manager app. You must have Settings/Applications/Unknown sources checked to side load apks.

I looked on Fongo and Dell Voice websites and didn't see a direct download link. Contact Fongo technical support at 1-855-836-3355 or TalkFreely@Fongo.com to see if they will provide a link to the apk other than the market links. Explain your situation (Fongo member, used US phone, etc). If they don't / won't provide one you may be out of luck.

There are other ways to get apks, but they are frowned upon even for free apps. Plus you run the risk of installing a virus disguised as the apk you want.
