Android getting attention

Does anyone notice how much attention Android is getting now? With the Samsung Galaxy series, there seems to be a lot of hype right now. Their phones are on the top of the page on ads, papers, and is overall more out there more than ever. I mainly see the S3 and now I'm starting to see the Note advertised as well.

Is this to compete heavier against the iPhone? It seems like its Samsung vs Apple now. I like how Android OS is getting more attention now. However, it seems like it created a "Are you a Apple fanboy" or are you a "Samsung fanboy". Like Samsung has their own OS or something. I dont want Android turning into something like that. Is the culture getting ruined? I used to feel like we were different for not buying into iOs. Opinions?

note: I know phones arent this serious and its just technology. This is just how I feel. Not mad.

I've had one Samsung phone and would never get one again (except maybe a future nexus) but to me it's about Android not the make of the phone. I really like my One X and will definitely check what HTC has coming out when my contract is up but I have no real loyalty to the brand of phone, just the OS. I'll just get whatever I feel is the best phone out at the time.

Apple is different because it's just one type of phone, Samsung isn't the only type of phone and in my opinion isn't even the best phone.

Its because among Android manufacturers, Samsung is the one with the money to go up against Apple in terms of advertising. Samsung basically advertises itself. Its not Android vs Apple turning into Samsung vs Apple, its just that HTC, Motorola and Sony doesn't have the resources Apple and Samsung does to ingriate themselves into everything. Well Sony does, but I am not sure why they aren't doing it YET.

Android has almost 70% of the market worldwide, it is the leader, the attention is justified. Ios is becoming a niche and not the norm these days. By the numbers worldwide.

It's no surprise. No tech is perfect, but much to the annoyance of apple, there is newer tech out now. Apple like to think that because they came before Android, that should equate to some pecking order. But in reality, apple are victims of themselves, by only offering one phone. This is the world of tech FFS! You can't deny people choice! Like I said, nothing is perfect, but we can have choice!

With Google's purchase of Motorola I would expect some expansion and devolpment of future Motorola products. I prefer Motorola phones myself anyway. Build quality is excellent and they always seem to have the best reception/radio/data connections. They have respectable hardware and even if they are sometimes slow with software updates you will still get them. I currently have a razr and its by far the best phone i've ever owned. Tried both the Nexus and rezound and ended up back with the razr. Will probably be picking up the new razr maxx hd when it's released.
This is just my opinion and I'm sure others will differ, just thought I'd put in my $.02.
:D

Build quality for motorola is great, too bad they don't have a good support and presence here in the far east, which makes them a no go for me.

Honestly i think that with all the hype that Apple created with the iPhone 5 and when it came out a lot of people said it was great, just they were expecting something completely different, when it wasn't, this has been the biggest thing i have seen since the release of the iPhone 5, so many people posting on here: "Switching from iPhone to Android, what should i be prepared to do", these threads are popping up like crazy and personally, i have seen a couple every now and again, but they are becoming rampant.

I think it is just a turning point in the whole smartphone world, one where people are figuring out there phones and wanted more freedom, because now that we have had smartphones for at least 5 years, people want to customize it to what they want and maybe are bored of the same old thing.

Personally i love Android and am glad to see it finally get the hype it deserves :)

Samsung is in the business to make money, not keep a culture a certain way. They advertise for the same reason any company advertises, to ensure that the consumer knows there products are out there. In the end it will be sales that keeps Android alive rather then a standard for a culture.
