Android home key event

Hi,

How to do the Key event home function. I want to kill the application while clicking
Home event ,so please anyone guide me to succeed this one......

Thanks,
Murugan

By killing apps, as in using a Task Manager to kill it indiscriminately instead of using its own exit button goes against the system's paradigm for app management. Its a pretty lengthy discussion, but you can just go Google "why doesn't android need a task killer" and you'll see why.

Easiest reason is that if you kill an app, Android thinks it crashed and restarts it in the background.

Constantly killing apps is wasteful as an inactive app in RAM isn't using battery but reloading when you next use it does. There's no great merit in having a lot of unused RAM, and the OS should clear inactive apps if it needs the space.

Of course an active app that you don't want active is a waste of resources - apps that do that a lot get uninstalled :). My current ROM supports a long press on the back button to kill the current app, which I use occasionally when an app seems stuck. Don't know how this is coded though.

Thanks for taking the time to explain guys. Like you Hadron, I usually use the back button to kill an app that's giving me trouble.

But it's nice to understand :)
