Hello,

Obviously composing this from a desktop. Key board missing on android device. When i enter text-box nothing prints nor does the drop-down keyboard appear. I have tried battery pull & restart/boot (though i could try again) and installing Gingerbread keyboard (version 1.0.15.2) which is now listed in the downloaded Apps. The destop identified my device type when i mounted it as diskdrive and installed that app/program from GooglePlay(website)--Install, i believe... But perhaps i need to install somethnig else,i.e not the right or basic one, just a themed accessory, or try something else.Any suggesstions.Still keyboard does not show up when i reach text-box field and try to type something. I'm just a noob btw....a dumbie.

Thanks in advance. You help is appreciated.

Okay, I've installed the aformentioned App.

Not sure what to do next.
Should i try uninstalling Gingerbread keyboard which appears still installed ?And then check keyboad works again or reinstall gingerbread keyboard again now this new app is installed withe all defaults set as cleared??

Sorry, I just tried that app but it doesn’t have Keyboard in the list, but that might be because I’ve never strayed from stock, no choices for me.

So try this: tap Category Wise, then scroll down and see if yours shows Keyboard. If it does, tap the little gear on the right. Then it’ll guide you through unassigning one and assigning another.

Okay...so i scroll down Category-Wise. and i don't actually have Keyboard as such listed.

I have deskdock,Home launcher + various 'document-to go' file types. But not Keyboard as such.Perhpas i nedd to try installing something else.Ginger bread has gone.Did'nt re-install it.

OK. Managed to install the 'Go Keyboard' ,tho it's a little smaller/different,after the other app you mentioned ,selecting 'input method' tab that appeared above the text field when i tap/held it and then proceeding with App Keyboard selection (running through the downloaded app form)

So i'm obviously doing something right!.Whether that had anything to do with the default manager i installed beforehand not sure but keyboard appears now.Perhaps i could have been just unaware how to select input method.Working now.(I got that from another page on apk keyboard files & basics on how to install/select keyboard)Pleased to sort that one out anyway.

Many Thanks for your help!!

No prob. On other little thing is that nobody really needs Default App Manager. All it does is walk us to a general setting we could have gotten to ourselves. It just makes this a bit easier and doesn’t hog too much memory doing it.
