Android L and 4k Displays

Hi,

Android is developing something new with Android L, giving an interface for TV's as well. Tablets are getting a higher resolution.

My question is simple: How would an HD video look like in a 2k or 4k resolution screen? Would it have good quality if we enable a full-screen view?

Hi,

Many devices already have a TV interface, often HDMI, but that's something that manufacturers themselves may chose to implement. So Android L will have it as a core feature, but individual manufacturers may choose to implement it or not?

My question is simple: How would an HD video look like in a 2k or 4k resolution screen? Would it have good quality if we enable a full-screen view?

Assuming the HD video is 720p or 1080p, it's not going to look as good as a full-blown 4K video on a 4K TV screen, it's only going to be upscaled and interpolated.

Thanks Mikedt,

The issue I am asking is because I've used the app below in the 2 days I've tested the Samsung Galaxy S 10.5:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fatowl.screensprofreev2

It has Live Wallpapers done in 1080p I believe. But when applied to this Tablet, that has the following size:

2560 x 1600 pixels, 10.5 inches (~288 ppi pixel density).

The videos simply get "pixelated". You can actually see the squares with the pixels. I liked this app as it had some places (beaches and waterfalls) near my city (Lisbon, Portugal) and it works perfectly in the Nexus 5 (doesn't eat that much battery). I've tried similar apps like this one:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.yukka.livewallpaper.waterfall2

The issue is exactly the same. The videos get very very pixelated and also break a lot, seems to pause a lot.

Overall, this is an issue with 1) resolution? 2) The app itself? 3) The Galaxy S 10.5?

Thanks again
