Help android L on moto x

Does anyone know when L will roll out to UK unlocked moto x models as I have the loud speaker fault on my phone and was hoping the update will sort out this problem before I have to return the handset
 
Most likely the second generation X will get it before the first gen (as that's rolling out in the States currently), but I'm afraid I can't find an actual schedule.

Is there any reason to believe that the problem is a system software issue?
