Android Market Online: Doesn't install apps

I understand why Google would limit their involvement in the servicing of apps.

The issue here is that Google limits their involvement in the servicing of everything they do. Very few companies provide worse customer service than Google.

On the plus side nearly all of it is free so there's the big trade-off. However, sometimes you still question if it's worth it and for free products that suggests a big problem.

Similar problem to everyone else. It al started well enough, finding and installing apps, but now I find an app i want, click install and it say the install will begin shorty, and it never does. When i return to the web market it says the app is installed, but on the market on my handset it says it isn't installed. When i then try to install the app from the market on my handset, it wont download. I am guessing this is because the market already thinks that the app is downloaded because of its status of "installed" on the web market.

Same problem here with the Market. I can log in ok but

1. it doesn't download any app to my phone

2. it lists apps that were installed but uninstalled as still being installed, and

3. it says my carrier is T-Mobile when it is Virgin.

Contatced Google and they replied with the same advice from their Help section - didn't work.

+1 with the Droid X on Verizon for issues 1 and 2. The web market got my phone and carrier correct though.

While we would love to have someone to speak with when trouble occurs, the troubles are usually the apps or your phone and not the marketplace.
I understand why Google would limit their involvement in the servicing of apps.

I understand that what you're saying but in this case it IS Google which runs the Market which has a problem with some phones.

Also, unfortunately since AppBrain is probably using the same mechanism as the Market, I'm still dead in the water with their renewed web installer.

AppBrain was just updated in the Market, they have activated Fast Web Installer again :)
I haven't tried it yet so don't know if it actually works...

I can't get it to work. Going to start a new thread and see if fast web installer works for anyone else.

the latest news I have had back from Google today was

Hello,

Thanks for your reply. We believe we have identified the cause of this issue and hope to have a fix soon.

I'll email you again as soon as more details available. Thanks for your patience as we work out the kinks in the Android Market website.

Regards,

Finally got it to work on my Droid Incredible. Found the answer in the Google help forums for the web based market.

@ZiZooM Got it working doing as follow !

Go to Settings/applications/manage applications

Go to something named like : Google frameworks > clear data > force close

Go to : Android market > clear cache > force close

Restart your phone : try to launch market an error will tell you to try later ... be patient and at some moment the market will show up.

Try to download from the web market, now you are done ;)
Clarification came from another user

@brypie Worked like a charm - thank you very much!

Just to clarify for others, I did as you suggested but the actual names of the things I cleared were:
- "Google Services Framework" == clear data
- "Market" == clear cache

- Reboot phone, and tried installing something from the web, and hey presto!

Thank you, worked for me at long last :)

Edit: woke up this morning and online market place said there was no device associated with this account. Never had this problem before - every other problem but not this one :(

Well, getting some more details from my own situation (the one where I can see everything but nothing will install to my phone). I had wondered if the phone was correct as all it said was, "Verizon Phone" when I got myself set up. That seemed rather non-descript.

Now I notice that when I look at the list of installed apps I can click on any one of them to bring up details about that app. When I then click the word "Installed" or "Purchased" on the screen that comes up it tells me, "There are no android phones associated with this account. Please sign in with a different account."

Ah hah! That explains some things.

Are you referring to the online Market, or Appbrain?

If you're talking about appbrain.. you have to keep in mind that this is a third party application _ that have no affiliation with Google in any way. Therefore some feature(s) might not be available.

I'm talking about the online Market. I can uninstall apps OTA with Appbrain. Well I have to select yes I want to uninstall the app but then it does it.
