android market server

I received my replacement Eris phone yesterday and when I programmed my phone and went to the Android Market and keep getting a server error. I took it to Verizon store and they said it is happening on some phones, they said to log on checkout.google.com and I should be able to go to the Android Market, I tried and still can't get on the market. Is there another way to repair this.

I got this error on my dads phone, but then it went away, but I upgraded to Froyo, so I'm pretty sure it had something to do with that

Try doing a factory reset on the phone...
