Android Market Update double in size

I'm hoping this is the right place to put this. I was forced to download the new market this afternoon (I tried to download Google Docs from a link) and I noticed that I had the low space warning. After having a look in the settings I noticed that it was well over 7Mb up from just over 3Mb. This is way too big for my phone to handle as I constantly over around 15Mb free level. Is there any way of keeping the previous version? This is also a bit of a rant post as well.

Ahh that sucks. I'm not rooted no. I understand that to improve apps the size might neet increase but lately it's getting silly. You Tube doubled in size (so I unistalled the updates) and I've noticed others creeping up too. It wouldn't matter so much if the high profile apps allowed apps to sd. I would rather that happen and it mean that we can't use widgets. It'll be a choice that is handed to the consumer.

all you can do is just uninstall the update....but sadly it will come back at some point like it did to me....wasn't even 10 minutes after I unistalled the update as well! lol

luckily I was rooted and could kill the updater log file..but sadly as Dan said, you have to be rooted...

With flash bloating to 17mb, and market to 7mb, I have lost 11mb of storage in the last week! I am constantly having to uninstall apps.
