The Android Developers Blog just posted an announcement that the Market has undergone a few, fairly remarkable, changes that will both please and probably tick off most of us.With a focus on improving discoverability and merchandising, we

As long as it works, has mega-servers and is up to date, I'm ok with navigation improvements/changes.

I usually only buy apps that I'm sure I will like, but I've refunded a couple of them that didn't live up to snuff. I think the 15 minutes needs to be at least an hour perhaps two. Otherwise the time is too short to get a refund, particularly with very large apps like the coming games.

The UI looks great! But I have to say, this 15 minute deal will have people in an uproar once they find out about it. That is not nearly enough time to fully test an app. What if you download an alarm clock app and want to set it before you go to bed? No refund there... I understand for games, they dont want people having 24 hours to beat the game then just refund it, but for most apps, 15 mintes is not enough. Change it to an hour maybe. If anything, this is going to INCREASE piracy, as people will backup the apps then refund, only so that they can fully test the app without being on the clock.

Not to mention, the timer starts when your credit card goes through, not when you install the app. So if you have a slow connection, and it takes 10 minutes to download a large app, no testing for you.

I have mixed feelings about that (leaning to what you're saying there).

For apps with nothing or not much in the "comments" area, the 15 minutes will be, for me, a deal breaker; I'll not make a purchase in that case.

I actually don't like the new market update. Looks too much like some cheap Xbox menu :{
And 15 minutes for a refund?! Lame....

Meh, I think it has a few helpful things added, but the overall UI isn't that nice I think.

Who's starting the paid apps boycott?

I dunno 'bout a total boycott, but I'll certainly be thinking twice before making a purchase. 15mins may be just about adequate for a launcher theme or a simple widget, but for a complex app (especially one that may interact with others) it's next to useless as an appraisal period.

Well, my piracy rate just went up to 98%. I thought I was doing good, keeping it under 75% too.... (I was at about 50% pirated apps. =S)

I thinks its on about every Android forum, Android Market related post now...

15 min refund is a bad idea...time to let Google hear your voice...

I always thought it should have gotten upped to 72 hours. But my paid apps just ceased.

Yeah, that 15 minute time limit is definately a restriction that will have me looking elsewhere for GPS apps, and others that would take more than 15 minutes to evaluate.

I got this update automatically on Wednesday when I fired up my phone. Looks sharp but I'm not sure it's as functional.

I got it OTA. I'm not sure I'm a fan of the layout. There are things about it I like and things I don't like. I think the refund period should've got shortened to 6 or 12 hours, not 15 mins.

i dont yet have the update either.

the 15 minute deal means zero to me. every app i have purchased i knew 100% i wanted it.
i do agree to a previous post, that if the majority of market users are not happy with this, voice your opinions to Google.

So how do we make our voice herd about the 15 min thing there is no forum or facebook page we can post on. Plus when the fruit brigade here about this they will have a field day
