Android Market Updated

cant push apps to phone with app brain on line from my comp. = b.s.
 
I read this somewhere earlier today and it worked on my unlocked AT&T currently used on the Rogers network.
Go to manage, manage applications, and select the market app. then hit the uninstall updates button. Wait about 5 minutes and then open and close the app a few times. It will automatically update after a few tries.
 
My Fascinate - Updated to new market on it's own.
Wife's Fasciante - Still on previous market.
Boss' Captivate - Still on market from 2 updates ago.
 
Can't help thinking that there is a fair share of crap opinions coming out here.

Boycott paid apps ? sure try that, and in a short period of time no commercial devs worth there salt will be publishing for Android !

All that will be left is mediocre (at best) stuff.

Stop whining and try the lite versions first, or wait till some reviews or comments come out.

All you whiners saying that you will pirate, take into account the best satnav on Symbian - TomTom.
Do TomTom support Symbian now ? no - why ? because people pirated it out of the market place.
You can still get TT on the Iphone because it is a safer ecosystem for the devs to actually make a living.

Cut the crap excuses and pay up for your games'n'apps, that way they get supported, updated and encourage the devs to go on making good stuff.

Most of the stuff is a couple of quid, and if its more - again wait for reviews :cool:

Final thought, you don't pop into PC world or Game, buy a game just on a whim and expect to take it back later for a full refund, just because you're not that keen on it.

Really? Devs will just disappear because we boycott their apps? How bout Angry Birds?

That's how much money they'll make by giving away a free app. An app that by the way costs money on the iPhone. The point of boycotting the apps is that if the devs realize we're not going to pay because of the time window issue then they complain to Google. The combination of the developers being angry along with the general public should hopefully change Google's mind about the refund policy.

Also, any people comparing iPhone lack of any refund policy saying we should be thrilled to even have fifteen minutes is a joke as well. Just because they don't have it doesn't mean I should be thankful for 15 minutes. We've had it since the beginning and I'm less than thrilled to be limited by my choices since this will severely limit my willingness to purchase apps that can't be evaluated in less than that time. The comparisons to iOS really need to stop. Android has surpassed it in nearly every way in terms of function, maybe not form. The refund policy set it apart from iOS and gave the appearance of an inviting and carefree environment.

A story about the benefit of the 24 hour setup is this. I paid for my Nexus One outright, pay for a 5 line contract with 3 data lines, and support developers whose apps I truly like, but even I have had to refund apps. At one point two apps had made their way onto my phone. I woke up to discover this. T-Mobile has a way to charge apps to your bill, However, sometimes the terms of agreement has a glitch that will show someone else instead of you. You would end up charging someone you don't know. The same thing happened to me. If not for the 24 hour period, I would have been stuck paying for an app that I didn't want or choose to purchase.

The limit should be two to six hours on regular apps and 30 minutes on games. If you can beat a game in 30 minutes or less than the dev isn't truly putting the effort into and should just be offering it for free with advertising. Otherwise they seem completely disingenuous.
 
Forgot to say, one of the reasons the games for Android is limited compared to IOS, is that devs can make a game for IOS and it works plain and simple.

If they make a game for Android, it may or may not work due to Android version installed on handset, and the hardware specs of the phone.
This leads to a lot of purchases followed by refunds.

If there is behind the scenes filtering, and you can only see what your handset will run, this cuts out a lot of problems - and will hopefully encourage more game devs to focus on Android ?
