Android Market Widget

What is this supposed to do? Just leaves a big green box on my screen which opens Market when pressed...

ie. pointless.

I think you answered your own question.....

Possibly, but a widget isn't designed simply to open up an app, they are meant to add a little bit extra. A simple shortcut would do this.

My experiment is to keep it open until one of my apps is due an update as I think maybe it might give me a 'heads up' for updates as the 'widget service' ??

If not it's going into the bin.

Surprised it's not been covered anywhere on the web or any android forum. Not even Google Android pages have anything.

Just found it, don't know why I couldn't see it before. I have a couple of updates if you open up the market app but just got the big ole green box doing nothing on my screen. I will leave it and see what happens!

I think we will be testing nothing :D

But I just have to get to the bottom of things even if the bottom is what we suspect... a big ole heap of nothing!

i was thinking the same, thought maybe it helped with the automatic install off up dates maybe ?

I now have an empty green box and the little icon in the notification bar saying I have updates. Think it's about to bite the dust!

yeah thats what it does, it shows featured apps.
if you click the top of the widget you get taken to the market place.
if you click the featured app you get taken to that page in the marketplace where you can read more on it or download it if you wish.
