Android Mini PC or Chromecast

I have an HDMI monitor sitting my bedroom that I use for my main desktop. However, it has a second HDMI port on it that I don't use. I have been thinking it would be cool to have some kind of media center hooked up in the bedroom but i am torn. I could get an android mini pc for about $35 (my brother has an MK808 which works well) and probably a remote for another $15, or i could get a chromecast.

Should i spend $50 on a mini pc and a remote, which would give me a lot of extra functions on my home computer, or should i spend $35 and get something that is very streamlined and simple to use?

I went the mini PC route and got a device that may or may not work as the instructions were worthless and the remote only worked when it wanted to, if ever. I bought a blue tooth mouse for use with it and gained a lot of hit or miss use but it is still a product not ready for prime time. I have this on backorder with Amazon and hope for better results.

I have the MK808b attached to my main TV, running CheapCast on my Nexus 7, and can "cast" Google Play Music, Movies, YouTube to the Mini pc exactly like Chromecast (which still isnt out here in the UK).

i have a mini pc, and it works just fine. truth be told, i thought i'd utilize it far more than i have. all i really use it for is netflix or plex. i also have a few roku players around the house, and roku does those just fine. you can pick one of those up cheap these days for one of the older models.

i admit i do want a chromecast. no idea why. probably should call my therapist.
