Android navigator problem

I bought an Eclipse Dual Sim Android Phone last week. when I go to Navigator, it is not the best in the world but acceptable, however I am unable to get any sound although on the menu it states mute off/on and the sound bar appears for maximum sound, Am I missing something here?
Has anyone else had this problem ?
