Android newbie - have basic question

I have the optimus slider which has a power control widget. This widget contains wifi, bluetooth, gps, sync, and screen brightness. I understand that in my email set up I can choose whether i want my email to sync or not. What is the difference between the sync in those settings and the sync in the power control. I am not sure what that sync in the power control is suppose to do. Thank you for any insight.

Sync on your email is an automatic control, like you sync it for every hour or so, or to trigger manual sync for that email account only.

The sync in power control is like a universal sync button. If you click it, it would sync everything you have set to allow sync: Google Contacts, Facebook contacts, twitter contacts, calendar, all email accounts, etc.

1) So if your email is set to sync manually only will it still sync it when you turn it on. Also when you turn it on and leave it on how often will all the other stuff sync?

2) If you have you have your email set to sync every hour but the power sync is off will it still sync then?

Thank you

1.) Google stuff like contacts and calendar often sync instantly when you put something new. For other apps, it has a default sync setting which will follor.

2.) Everything you have set to sync will still sync. The sync button on power control widget is a "force sync" button. For example, the schedule of your email is still for 30min, and your calendar isnt showing your new data yet. Clicking on that will force sync everything at that specific time.
