Does anyone know of any program that runs on Mac's that allow you to connect to the phone and work just like a PC would, and/or allow's you to root it...?
What exactly do you mean by "work as a PC would"? By default, connecting the phone to your mac gives you 3 options:
1. PC Suite option (for phones that come with a PC Suite, like those from Samsung and HTC)
2. Media Transfer - as far as I know, Mac supports this
3. Mass Storage - something supported by Mac as well.
If the root offers Mac support you should have no problem. On your Mac you should still see all thats on your phone. Its shows as no name. Make sure you select the connection type from your phone.
I would borrow someones PC. Most flashing unlocking or debranding will only work on PC. You could try getting windows on a partition of your mac, if you're that desperate or intend doing lot's of the above.
You could try z4root on your phone but it doesn't always work, depending on the phone. I gave in & blagged a PC for flashing & superoneclick (root).
Edit. Get Root Explorer file manager on your phone so you can see everything.
