Android or iPhone

Currently I have an HTC Incredible S. I think it's a great phone.

I've started becoming more Apple orientated though recently, after purchasing a MacBook as I am studying for a degree in graphic design, and I've purchased an iPad to compliment that with different graphic design apps. I also have an iPod Nano for music. I'm also considering purchasing either an iMac or a MacBook Retina once I graduate.

So, since I'm quite 'Apple-y', when it's time for me to get a new phone, I'm considering getting the new iPhone, once it's released. It makes sense since I'm tied into iTunes and have already purchased apps on my iPad that will be able to be used on the iPhone.

However, I still really like Android. I even considered getting an Android tablet before I got my iPad. I'm just really unsure whether to go for the iPhone and keep within Apple's ecosystem, or go for another Android.

What do you think?

As this is the android forum you'll have more suggestions that way and rightly so, but it seems like you've answered your own question. Best stick with your own feelings on the matter as it sound like you'd prefer to go with apple if it suits your needs and work habits.

I think that looking early as you are is the best strategy. :)

If you go with Android, you'll be adding variety to your experiences and if you go iPhone, you'll be adding cohesion to your personal setup - both are very good strategies.

If your clients are Apple-impressed then you may want to consider that as part of your personal and professional image. If they value iconoclastic statements, maybe a mix of the two is the way. Nothing wrong with considering your professional image, especially in a visually oriented field, yes?

The app investment may be key - if what you need is already built in to Android or free, that may not matter - but if you have some app needs that are premium or Apple only, that's a different story.

With the recent changes to iTunes, many on the Android side have turned to iSyncr, and the wifi option looks very good, thought I would mention that.

The new iPhone is expected to be excellent hardware per usual, the top end stuff almost always is regardless of maker. Regardless of specs, I always pick up the candidate model and ask myself how it feels - I often look away while doing it, so as to not be influenced by "the new." I have often surprised myself by changing my mind from that experience. I know that it doesn't sound scientific, but I have to feel comfortable holding a phone and I simply trust my instincts on that first impression. (I didn't like the feel of my present phone, but the sales rep encouraged me to try it with the case I'd been considering, and was the clincher for me, just for example.)

Android will offer you more hardware choices in that regard and my favorite saying is that Android is all about choice.

The best phone is the one that is best for you, so while we chose Android, we will all support your exploration and your choice.

Are there any other particular functions or needs that are your hot issues?

As a graphic designer with a few years under my ever-expanding belt, you would be best to be very familiar with all platforms, especially if you will be designing digital media. You'll need to be able to test each platform's idiosyncrasies. Your Apple tech may be your daily drivers, but you should have access to Android (and Windows) for your professional life. You can't assume iProducts will get it right every time ... especially with cross-platform applications.
