Android OS battery drain

I know there's other threads about this but has anyone figured out a fix yet. I went to bed for about 7hrs with my phone at 98% when i woke up it was at 86% with Android OS using 68% of the battery. I currently have the VZW Moto X with Kit Kat 4.4 and NO apps installed. I still can't figure this out and Betterbattery Stats doesn't currently work with 4.4. Please help also my phone is NOT rooted.

That's pretty typically my battery percentage when it sits idle for a period of time. But, I always unplug in the morning and plug in at night. Once every few months or so I run the battery down to as low as I can stand, just to calibrate things.

Does GSAM Battery Monitor work on 4.4? That will tell you what is using power by percentage on your phone.

I will try these apps and see what it says. It's just weird for me that when i got the phone about a week ago and I use it out the box (55% charged) w.o charging I got superb battery life at about 2 1/2 hrs of screen time and ran it down to 7% before charging it.

Please report back your findings when you get them. I am curious.

Do you leave WIFI on or 4G on when its idle during the night? If so that will drain the battery. Also, it can depend on what kind of service you have. If you get bad service the phone is going to work more to find a good single and therefore drain your battery faster.

It would be nice if Android could replicate the standby time that Apple can get. But Android has that true multitasking ability. So its a trade-off.

Pretty sure GSAM is not working on 4.4 yet either. I can't get it to run anyway.

Thanks.

Posting a screenshot of the battery history (in 4.2.2, in settings->battery; I assume it's similar in 4.4) would be helpful. The initial battery screen then tap the graph and grab a screenshot of that, too, to see when the phone was awake, the screen was on, etc.

Yea apparently no battery monitoring apps work on 4.4 yet. But normally I always have wifi on. I'm gonna attach some screenshots so far from my usage today.

Just as a fyi, I turn off wifi, 4G, BT, sync (of course), etc at night, leaving only the radio working, just in case I receive an important call from a starred favorite at night, and mine will drain about 1.5%/hour. I think this is fairly normal for the Moto X. I'm still on 4.2.2 btw.

A few weeks after I got the phone, I noticed that my battery was draining faster than before. I looked at the battery stats and noticed a couple of apps that were using too much battery juice for no reason. Since the apps were not important to me I deleted them and my battery issues were solved. So that's where I would start. Check your battery stats and get rid of any offending apps. If that doesn't work consider doing a factory reset. If that doesn't work contact Motorola and replace the device. My experience with batteries is that they last about a year. Not a problem if you can remove the back and replace it. This concerned me since the Moto X has a non-removable back. So prior to getting the phone I contacted a friend who works at Motorola and inquired as to whether Motorola had a repair process in case the battery needed replacement after the one year warranty is up. He looked into it and tells me that if the battery ever needs to be replaced after the warranty is up, you can contact Motorola and arrange to have them replace it for around $100. He also told me that Motorola has always been known for having great batteries so it shouldn't be problem. But it's nice to know that if the need should ever arise that Motorola has a repair process in place.
